**Curl Talk With…
How long have you been on your Natural Journey? I have been natural off and on for about 3 years.
I transitioned for about three to four months, then I decided to do
the “big chop”.
Why did you decide to go Natural? I decided to go natural because I was tired of putting chemicals in my hair that wasn’t doing nothing but harming it instead of helping the growth of my hair.
What is your current regimen and what are your favorite products? Currently I am using the Cantu Shea Butter leave in conditioner, Cantu Shea Butter Hair and Scalp Oil, Cayenne Pepper and Olive Oil for hair
growth, V05 Moisture Milks Passion Fruit Smoothie Shampoo, V05 Herbal
Escapes Conditioner Pomegranate and Grapeseed Extract Conditioner and
Organics by African’s Best Hair Mayonnaise ( for a Deep Conditioner)
What is the best thing about being Natural? The best thing about being a natural is the freedom of being able to get up and go without styling your hair too much. I’m in medical school for billing and coding and I have to get up early every morning. I have a lot of options…headbands one day, beanies another day, or if I really feel like it, I can throw a wig on my head and go
(only during winter months).
Any words of encouragement for the newbies? Encouragement for the newbies: Don’t ever feel ashamed of wearing your hair natural. People are going to talk and be negative, but do not let others discourage you from your natural hair journey. It’s all about you! Your feelings count, not others. If you feel like your hair doesn’t look good on you, try adding accessories such as earrings, necklaces, and makeup. Bring out that natural you.
